In March of 2020, I went to an Iris Dement show at the Alladin Theater in Portland. It was her last live show before the Covid lockdown four days later. Three weeks later, John Prine died from the Corona virus.

This song was written for the movie "Daddy and Him" where Prine played a featured role.

This version struck me different from the "official" release. Iris changed a lot.

But...this is one of the great songs I have ever heard. Because, it rings so true when you live/love someone.
