(6,979 posts)Love this song. It was big when I was in high school here in Los Angeles.
I remember we were allowed to have transistors in school and we could listen to them during lunch time. I attended an all-girls Catholic school, and we played this song for one of the nuns and she looked at me/us and said "What in the world is that you're listening to. Is that one of those joke songs?" We said, "No Sister, it's a top song, and everybody's buying it." She was of the Holy Family Order (African-American nuns).
She replied, "What are you young kids thinking, buying something like that?" One of the funniest moments I've ever experienced or had in my LIFE Sadly, that particular Sister passed away last year.
I Loved her. She was fun and fantastic for a Nun, growing up with us "crazy kids" in the 1970's.
