The music world lost a lot when we lost Justin Townes Earle. He wasn't just his Dad's kid, he was a very talented musician and lyricist in his own right. An exceptional guitar player.

And Steve and EmmyLou have been friends since the mid '70's. EmmyLou was in a club in Nashville when she first saw Steve. It was open mic night or something and Steve was a total unknown, maybe 19 or 20 at the time. Skinny, long haired kid from Texas.
He sang " Devil's Right Hand" and EmmyLou was stunned. Said it was the most perfect song she'd ever heard.
And the first time they informally met was in a recording studio in Nashville. She sat down by him and asked him if he'd like the rest of a cheeseburger she was eating. And shortly after that she left. Steve said he wasn't the same for about three weeks. Yeah, I'd have been gobsmacked as well.

Anyway, beautiful post.
