Singer, dancer, actor, Sammy Davis Jr. was #BornOnThisDay, Dec. 8, 1925. Davis once said,"My talent was the weapon, the power, the way for me to fight. It was the one way I might hope to affect a man's thinking." A smoker, he passed in 1990 (age 64) from #cancer #RIP #GoneTooSoon

On February 19th, 1962, Sammy appeared on ABC's "The Rifleman." The name of the episode was "Two Ounces of Tin ." Sammy plays Tip Corey, a ruthless killer. He's told to ride out of town, but he refuses and delivers an ultimatum to the Marshal: "take his badge off and throw it into the dirt by sundown or he'll kill him." Sammy got to show off his magnificent gun handling skills.

He showed up "his magnificent gun handling skills" in a movie too. I've posted that clip before. I'll find it.

By this point in life, Johnny Crawford probably had his learner's permit.

I remember watching him on talk shows when I was a kid thinking he was kinda cheesy. Wrong. He was one of the most talented song-and-dance performers in the history of this country, and his life was groundbreaking in many ways.

Watch this on PBS, probably my favorite American Masters show ever:
