I always liked him as a jazz guitarist because his tone was less "blippy".
Too many of those guys used the same Byrdland, L-5, or Super 400 through the same Polytone amp.
Bucky's sound had more ring & pop. Great players like Pass, Gale, Kessel, Hall, and so on were outstanding. But, their guitar sound? M'eh!
Not Bucky, though. His guitar sounds like.....a guitar!
