5. Here's a great song done better.

The quality of the song determines the quality of the version as much as the artist. If you look at some of the reat American Song Book songs like Hoagie Carmichael's Stardust, its impossible to pick the best version because so many artist have made it their own.

7. I love Cyndi Lauper...

I'll never forget a time where earlyish in her career she was a guest on a late night show that Bob Costas hosted. He was a pompous ass then, too, and was throwing Cyndi, what he thought was, subtle shade. She then proceeded to politely and deftly Jujitsu/Judo slam him to the mat with a response worthy of a queen.

Such a great singer she is. But Joni is ultimately, for me, the epitome of singer/songwriter/artist/musician. None better.

I like many covers better than the original as well. One artist that grand slams covers is/was Chris Cornell. I found a compilation on youtube. I absolutely adore Chris’ voice and his takes on other songs. Brilliant!!!
