Simon & Garfunkel - America

I've been a S&G fan since day one, but this song moves me every time I hear it. Paul Simon has written some wonderful lyrics but I don't think he ever outdid this one. Hearing them sing this takes me back to the time it was released, but I think it says a lot for us now. Superb.

... that was from a time when we were optimistic about the future of America and the world, but that was before the assignations of MLK and Bobby Kennedy, and before Reaganomics and greed-based life. It seems like optimism has all but vanished since that time... even more accentuated by Putin's attack on Ukraine. But who knows... perhaps sanity will prevail and optimism will be restored!
