(65,227 posts)I have 2 Leo stories, but I'll only give you the short one.
Back in college (mid 70s) I was in a coffee house trio. I didn't play guitar yet, so we tried to find joints with a piano.
We opened for Furry Lewis at Wise Fools Pub (or was it Kingston Mines?).
A week later we played an on campus watering hole at Northwestern. Early gig. So we were done before 8.
One of us suggested we go back to Wise Fools on the way back, and maybe the guy would let us in the stage door.
He did and we're backstage and I ask the music manager who is playing tonight.
He says "A guitar player singer from Minnesota. His name is Leo Kottke."
I listened for a few minutes and I asked him "Are there 2 of 3 guys up there?". He says " Neither. He's the only one on stage."
I went out front to see him and was in awe!
Glad to hear he's playing again because he was struggling with severe tendonitis in his wrists. But, I read he's better now & playing again.
