There are two sides to every story - including that of Harlem's legendary Cotton Club

A shout out to the excellent historic musical threads in the diary on Daily Kos by Denise Oliver Velez, mainly focused on POC artists. Today's post describes the scenes at New York jazz clubs and performers of that era, 1920s and 30s, and the racial tension that permeated it. Anyway, lots of links to videos of performers in the thread, by Denise and by a host of interested readers. Duke Ellington, Cab Calloway, Sonny Rollins, ... good stuff!
