(29,205 posts)I was maybe 5 years old... my cousins from California came to visit us in Kansas. Two girls... early teens.
One of them had "Hard Days Night" with her and she and my older sister played it over and over again.
My dad took the record off the record player and "accidentally" left it on top of the stereo amplifier. This was a device with a lot of tubes and stuff back in 1961 or 62... and it got very hot. Melted the record to the point it couldn't be played anymore.
My cousins never ever forgave my dad for doing that.
Thing was... all of the records we had dad was like "never leave them anywhere near the equipment, if you take it off the record player you have to put it away on the shelf!". So I'm certain he melted the Beatles on purpose!

(57,097 posts)bother the Rolling Stones "Out of Our Heads" album I'd gotten for my birthday. From him and my mom. That's when I knew my dad never had a hand on any gift bought for me.
I liked the Beatles because the girls liked the Beatles. Still love the Beatles. And the "girls" - My wife, my daughters and the cat.
