The Stone Roses - Waterfall (official video with the studio version)
I posted a live performance of this several months ago --
https://democraticunderground.com/103468513 -- because it was really good, and the Stone Roses weren't usually known for good live performances.
But I ran across the studio version popping up on YouTube the other day, and I just love its perfection and wanted to post the official video.
And I was thinking of the Roses again this morning after posting some insider info, from a Golden Earring tour manager, about how their drug use after
Moontan and "Radar Love" were released might have affected their next album, which wasn't the followup fans and journalists wanted (see
https://democraticunderground.com/103478520#post5 ). That had happened to the Roses after their debut, but the Roses broke up after recording a second album that got mixed reviews, with band members blaming the drug use, and Golden Earring managed to stay together for nearly 50 more years.
I love rock'n'roll. Always have. I have never liked the effect drugs have on people (though I have taken some drugs, years ago). I've seen too many friends and relatives messed up by them, and have lost some loved ones. I'm glad many musicians and bands survived drug problems, but we've lost far too many individual musicians, and seen far too many bands fall apart, and artists waste years and destroy careers and relationships, because of drugs.
There's only one really brilliant Stone Roses album, and there should have been more...
