CDs of this song almost completely lose the sizzle cymbal workings of Joe Morello in the intro and fail to pick up much of the sublime snare work of his left hand throughout. This video, which I’ve never seen, let you see that expressive left hand doing it’s thing and the sound is crispy and bright. So cool!

Of course Paul Desmond and Brubeck are great in their solos, but Joe is absolutely stellar in his. Did you hear the phrases that inspired Ginger Baker?

Not quite into the detail as much as you but I did get to see Ginger Baker with Cream
