Related: About this forumTwo very different virtuoso renditions of a hauting melody by the same artist
With two completely different groups:
Béla Fleck and his tune "Big Country" first with his jazz-fusion group, the Flecktones, and then with Dobro genius Jerry Douglas and some of Ireland's best folk instrumentalists. Same tune, interpretations from different planets.
and then this incredible rendition
It's still Béla's tune, but WOW!!

(1,615 posts)4. The "Live at the Quick" version featured a few non-Flecktone guests.
Paul Hanson on bassoon.
Paul McCandless on soprano and sopranino saxes.
Andy Narell on steepans and synth.
I found a video of Bela talking about composing Big Country. At the end he plays it all the way through solo.
