A truck driver with another son and wife needing help both who had MS ( not Ronnie ) when Ronnie was young

I heard your footsteps at the front door, and that old familiar love song. ‘Cause you knew you’d find me waiting there, at the top of the stairs.

Those lyrics weren’t written about waiting for his lover to come home. He was recalling his boyhood in a working-class London neighborhood, waiting for his tireless dad to return from his Sunday morning trudge to the local junk market.

You were sorting through the odds and ends,
You was looking for a bargain.

" The Debris " was a term used by the locals to describe a makeshift market thrown together on the bleak streets of a city that was still bearing very visible scars of the WWII Blitz.
