Grateful Dead - Viola Lee Blues - 1967 - Monterey Pop

https://music.
&feature=share

Pretty good, video/audio repro here. For 1967. The Dead were still in the McKernan Blues stage of their career - young, rough and raw, with a ton testosterone....but I am amazed at what a sync'd up band they were in this moment. Bob was still a teenager, I think.

My daughter said today, that she likes John Mayer, but that older guy (Weir) gives her the creeps. Think I will send this to my darling daughter.

"See, he was young, once, too!"

had a quirky vocal that kinda made perfect sense for this band. "Pride of Cucamonga"...."Just Like Tom Thumb Blues"?

always saw signs saying "Let Phil sing". When he did join in the crowds loved it. I miss those days.

Diggin in the vibe, bro, it's much appreciate, my friend. Gotta love the woman in audience groovin' to the tune. If she's still kicking, she'd be one hip old sister today! Though I'm sure the same goes for your daughter when she's gone through the time machine, that is.

I remember rooting on my Dad in the early 70's. Why do you listen to guys like Armstrong, Teagarden, Dorsey, Ellington, Congdon?

Learned answer: I was too stupid to understand when I asked the question.

But - what I appreciate - is the audio/video wizards that were supporting the SF/LA sound. Amazing people that were already making their presence known in 1967 - recording live music like this.
