Music Appreciation

This first generation Smiths fan wasn't expecting all that much as I've never been that fond of Moz's solo stuff, but this ended up being the best concert I've been to in ages, and even better than seeing Eddie Vedder last year...

(19,089 posts)Morrissey's solo work is, on the whole, amazingly good .... Viva Hate was extraordinary .... IMO .....
Thanks for this ...

(35,977 posts)I just wasn't that interested in much after that. I was shattered when the Smiths broke up and tended to judge his music harshly by comparing it to The Smiths unfavourably, as nothing could ever be as brilliant as anything The Smiths did (with the exception of Death of a Disco Dancer and a few other ones from Strangeways). Morrissey's later stuff is very dramatic and manly and while it's not bad, it's just not my sort of thing.

(19,089 posts)The Smiths Lives ..... awesome .... (at least a song or two)
Kinda narrow video .... Maybe the camera was held upright for a reason ... Too close to the subject matter ....

(35,977 posts)There's annoying singing along and whoooing from the audience (seeing I did both those, I can't complain too much), but the quality is far better. It's broken up into 15 sections, so start at one and just go to the right hand menu for the rest (you need to click on the YouTube icon on the bottom right to access them). I'll link to the second bit and you can go from there...
I noticed Boz Boorer (over on the left hand side of the stage) had his guitar on a stand type thing while he played. Does anyone know what that's about? I assumed he's got a bad back and has to play like that, because I can't imagine that'd be just because he likes playing like that. It just looks so awkward to play like that....
For anyone who isn't into clicking on the YouTube icon and going to the rest of it, here's a direct link to the absolute greatest moment of the night, at least for me. Still Ill is one of my favourite songs by The Smiths...
