I had not heard about this. Last tour for him due to a regenerative disease starting to affect his hands.

Back in 2019, Frampton announced his retirement from touring after revealing that he had been diagnosed with a degenerative muscle disease called Inclusion-Body Myositis, which will eventually hamper his ability to play the guitar.

(65,136 posts)One of my first guitar toys. His use of it, and its use on Nazareth's "Hair Of The Dog".
I had fun with it.
It got stolen back in the mid-80s. I doubt the thief knew what it was.

(49,022 posts)news shows I channel surf, and just found it on YouTube. Will post that below. One of Anthony Mason's excellent interviews.
While I was looking for that just now, searching Google first, I ran across an article from Johns Hopkins on how much Frampton has been helping both his doctor's research and other IBM patients. I recommend reading the entire article - it's a great read:

Another long but very readable article from Brain and Life magazine, giving more info both on the disease and Frampton's battle with it:

IBM is similar to ALS in many ways, but fortunately not as serious. Unlike ALS, it isn't fatal.
George Kooymans of Golden Earring has been battling ALS since late 2020. I've mentioned that here in MA and posted a request for prayers or good vibes for him in the Lounge. Sadly, he lost the ability to play guitar early in the progression of the disease. Frampton noticed weakness in his legs first. That happened later for George Kooymans, though he's used a walker and now has an electric wheelchair. (Editing to link to that Lounge topic - https://democraticunderground.com/10181674319 - and to add that ALS can also start with leg weakness, as it did for Ernie Wallengren, the friend with ALS I mentioned in the OP there.)
We need effective treatments for both diseases.
I hope Peter Frampton's farewell tour goes well. Golden Earring didn't have a chance to do one.
