(9,774 posts)I awoke last night to the sound of thunder
How far off I sat and wondered
Started humming a song from 1962
Ain't it funny how the night moves
When you just don't seem to have as much to lose
Strange how the night moves
With autumn closing in.

Ace Records, esteemed purveyors of important and historic music, have a nice writeup about Little Kings. (One can also purchase the album on MP3 for £7.99.)

(49,012 posts)having a hit that early, thought they'd started having hits in '63. And I don't remember that Marvelettes song at all, though the others are all familiar.

(1,331 posts)62 was well represented with the likes of The Twist, Peppermint Twist, Twisting the Night Away, The Mashed Potato and probably others Im forgetting. Syrupy love songs were very popular too.
This was not long before the British Invasion greatly changed the music scene.
These were probably the first current tunes I can remember. My older sibs always had the radio on and tuned to one of the pop hits stations.
