First, I've always loved that song. I think the guitar solo is one of the great melodic solos of all time.
Now the story:
We were hosting a jam night at a club near our homes. We played a half hour then started bringing others up.
The 3rd guy up was in a band, but came alone.
He asked if we could back him on 2 Tickets. It was "sure, let's go through the changes real quick." Because there was a set of congas on stage, I jumped over to those. (They were behind my keyboard rack next to the drum riser.)
Anyway, we start the song and when the chorus hit, me, the guitar player & drummer popped in perfect 4 part harmonies with him.
At the end of every verse, I'd jump over to the keys to do that piano wash thing.
When we got done, he said into the mike "Holy crap, talk about a backing band!" Two weeks later, he came back with his band, because he wanted them to hear us. When they went up to play, he refused to play 2 Tickets in front of us. Flat out told us it would be embarrassing to him.
I think you understand why I have fond memories of this song.
