10 Days - 10 Great Live Performances Dire Straits

1975-1985

Dire Straits were really firing on all cylinders at this performance. You gotta admire how they slow it down in the extended version of "Sultans of Swing" and then speed it back up to a climatic finish. A judicious use of the fog machine, great lighting, and some pumped up dancing by the group, including the keyboards' guy at stage right . . . the audience roars its approval. The drummer gets a special mention--the dude is in a trance of perfect rhythm.

Enjoy.

My Wife & I had 6th or 7th row center seats at The Uptown in Chicago.
It was on the tour for the 2nd album, when Mark's brother was still in the band.
They were excellent. They opened with a super version of Lady Writer.
We were 25' from Mark the whole show.
