higher if it hadn't been released in November of '82 so a lot of the sales were calculated for that year. It was on the US charts for half a year.

Great as the studio version was, I prefer this live version from a concert recorded in June '82 for the German TV show Rockpalast, a couple of months before they recorded the album. They introduce the song with what was apparently the working title then, but it was changed to "Twilight Zone" when it was recorded, and that episode of Rockpalast didn't air till just after that so the final title appears on the screen partway through.

What is 'Every Breath You Take' about?
"Although often thought of as a love song, the lyrics are the words of a possessive lover who is watching "every breath you take; every move you make".
Sting later said he was disconcerted by how many people think it is a positive song. He insists it is about the obsession with a lost lover, and the jealousy that follows.


I heard him refer to it once as, the stalker song. But its still a great song!
