Daily Distraction 126/05/2022

These pictures are from the extreme west end of Crete. The old port of Phalasarna. It was destroyed by a massive earthquake in 365 AD. The quake, shockwave, and resulting tsunami wiped out many people throughout the Mediterranean. There is a written report from the carnage wrought in Alexandria Egypt from the disaster. Crete was raise 6.5 meters. This put the port about 200 meters inland from where sea level was previously.
