No matter where you took this great photo, it's still gorgeous.

(17,133 posts)inlet between the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay. The hills on the left are Marin County; I'm standing in San Francisco with the Pacific Ocean at my back.
As the inland part of California swelters, the rising heat draws cool air in from the Pacific. Since the Golden Gate is the lowest elevation, more cool air comes in and creates foggy conditions here. I'm sure you're familiar with this phenomenon, Peggy, from your experiences along the coastal regions.

(149,678 posts)And you can bet I am familiar with the foggy conditions! I spent my teen years growing up in San Jose, and there we could see the fog coming over the Santa Cruz mountains, just as it's doing in your photo!
