(86,646 posts)Maybe the drought is over. I am thinking it's time for a new camera, though. I like this one but it's heavier than many of the new ones, my neck and shoulders keep me from doing much photography lately. Getting a more compact and lighter one will probably make the difference.
But I hate shopping! I have the money, I hate shopping, for anything.
The other entries look good, a lot of birds.

(149,629 posts)Mine is an Olympus E-M10 Mark IV. It's much lighter than my Nikon D3200! I don't normally even need a tripod. My recent moon photo (First Quarter) was taken hand-held by this camera!

(86,646 posts)Because I'm usually in need of contortionist poses to get what I want or I'm trying to keep pace with some wild animal without getting hurt or into trouble. A pod is just one more thing...
I have always had good muscle control but I can't vouch for that consistently any more and I'm done with the pain part.
When I get sick of my camera's quirks, which are adding up with age, I'll get off my butt and go find a new camera. Won't be long, I just got my 4x4 running again and I'm jonesin' to get out in the woods, I won't go without a camera.

(9,813 posts)cameras... suggestions please
I've found the folks in the group to be (mostly) non-bigoted regarding their current brand.
It's just that they made a decision and have the experience to offer, on those models.
I know I get the "Nikon Guy" label, but I've had them for over 50 years.
I have others. (redacted)
Good luck. All the modern systems are great, and differences are minor.
Since I skipped over the DSLR generation entirely (my point-and-shoot has served me well over some 10 years (?)) I opened up all brands as options. Chose mine because of the special 20mm lens I always wanted. Opened up new worlds for me, compared to even a 24.

(86,646 posts)Good info there.
I am still using my trusty P510 but I'm ready for something that has basically the same capabilities, maybe improved (?), but lighter in weight and smaller for packing. My camera is a major consideration when I head out with my pack, the smaller and lighter, the more likely it is I'll have it with me when weight is an issue. I'm getting old so I have to reconsider a lot of my back pack regime.
I also have a Cannon EOS40D in the manual/digital transition stage. Camera is digital, the lenses are not. It's heavy, I love it but it's heavy.
