So how did 17 year Cicadas evolve.
They live underground eating tree sap from roots and keeping an eye on the calendar. Then they come out of the ground and have a big party for a few weeks, lay eggs and die.
They live in many environments Tropical rain forests, Desert scrub, Temperate season forests.
The weirdest bug ever with no clear evolutionary path. Cicadas/why.
