Rhodes, Rhodes

Like New York, New York....
From the medieval city on the north end of the island of Rhodes. The fort was started by crusading knights and used by everyone after. Along with other modifications. This was on our last day of the trip. Easter Sunday. A great time to visit as 3/4 of the shops were closed and at least half the restaurants. This cut into the tourist numbers.

Legend says the colossus stood here.

Docking here for over 1,000 years

Part of the old city behind the walls

Roast lamb for Easter Sunday's lunch.

I've heard about Rhodes before, but never seen such detailed photos.

All those stones, still so vertical, and still standing!

As for standing up all these years it helped to have big square stones that are hard to move.
In many places city walls were torn down and the blocks reused in other structures once the walls were not usable for defense.

But if I do a photo book I might have to learn something😁

I'm not sure I want to put that effort in to curate images and find a publishing method. Thank you for the compliment.
