Makes me want to go there. Today!
Whoops, belay that thought. Google maps just showed me what White Pocket is near. Not easy to get to. I'll settle gladly for your ideal image!

I went with some folks from the camera club and we hired guides, who were great. I wanted to see the way in from the seat of someone else's truck before trying it with my own . It's gnarly, but not too bad until the last couple hundred yards. The Milky Way photos were amazing. I haven't worked on any of those yet. I didn't need the star tracker or long exposures-- there was no light pollution at all, and we just shot the sky directly, one exposure each image, no stacking. It was the clearest night sky I've seen in a long time.

Glad you like the photo!

I used to go to Phoenix once a quarter, and one trip we stayed the weekend and drove around the state for three days. By far the most unique state I've visited, abundant photo opportunities and, mostly perfect weather, except when the steering wheel got too hot to touch! Beautiful photo!

Yeah, it gets hot here. We're in the gradual comedown from summer temperatures right now, more like 100F rather than 110+ F in mid-summer. It was cooler up on the Grand Staircase-- 85-ish during the day and into the low 50s at night. It was a welcome respite from Phoenix summer!
