(6,561 posts)2. I guess all those mini isles off the coast are a result of plate tectonics, right?
Of course, erosion played a role. So cool and peaceful. I dug up clams on the beach in Washington state circa 1965 or so. It was fascinating.

Apparently, they are the basaltic remains of eroded lava flows . . .
. . . from Eastern Oregon!!
It's hard to get my arms around the massive scale of the volcanic events resulting in their creation.
