Related: About this forumwhite faced capuchin (monkey) lounging on a piece of bamboo just outside my door...
I normally post a series, sometimes a large series, of photos and I wonder if it overwhelms people. maybe more posts with only one or two photos per post is better. what do you all think?
this shot isn't bad....the challenge was that I had a 500mm prime lens (IOW fixed focal length, not a zoom) and the monkeys were close enough that I had to move back to try to get them in the frame. this one stretched out and I cropped the toes on his right leg. I'm normally too focused on getting my subjects' eyes in focus and my framing and composition suffers....this time I was consciously trying to get the framing perfect but he stretched his leg too far down and I would have had to move back farther and miss the shot.

(10,115 posts)...but, if you're shooting a wider variety of things and don't need that much reach most of the time, then, yeah, it's overkill.
I forgot which lens you're using.....was it the 180-600?

(10,115 posts)...I imagine the moon shots are composites, no?
HAB911
(10,342 posts)a lot of time and effort with my laptop and adsbexchange, sitting, watching......for each one of those there are 10 where the moon and plane are no where close. They are one of the most difficult photos I've ever attempted. I know where the flight paths are, sitting in my back yard, when and where the moon is, and there is a quick window when the two are even near each other. The earth is turning, the plane is moving and it rarely comes together. There is no way to plan when the two will coincide.

(156,265 posts)I like the fact that he's off-center so that you see his arms and legs as he hangs from the bamboo.
A masterful shot!
