Snow geese

I usually miss the snow geese because they arrive early and don't stay long on their way further north, but this year we're having a very late spring, and since we were banished from the house while the texture was going on the walls, we went out for a drive today in spite of the snow and rain. I was finally rewarded with a nice little flock of snow geese to photograph. Here are three. I don't know what they were digging for in the mud, but it must have been yummy. We're still waiting for the swans...they're quite late this year.

Goose behind it: "Oh just eat it man!"

This city boy appreciates your wonderful nature photos. The only wildlife I see are pidgeons and the occassional mouse in my kitchen

Can you believe I saw a snow goose here in Memphis yesterday? The thing has been hanging around since winter. When summer comes that snow goose is going to regret the decision not to migrate, I predict. At Shelby Farms Park there are a mixture of the migrating ducks and the more domesticated pond ducks, but this is the first time I have seen a snow goose become a pond duck!

I am not familiar enough with duck habits to know exactly how unusual that is...............

from the holding pond between us and the commercial property next door. Mama Kitty thinks the geese coming and going is jolly fun.

We are to have 3-5 inches of snow by morning...again.

I do hope this isn't one of those years when we don't get a summer. A few years ago we had one like that where the temperature only went above 70 three times all summer. Yuck.
