Related: About this forumstorm in Vermont...
certainly not as bad as the Mid West but I just lost lots of trees... counted 12 down and that is just from walking in my back yard during a break in the storm... I need a couple more chain saws...

(149,737 posts)I suppose it's one way to weed out the weaker ones so the stronger ones have more room to grow, but still...

(22,758 posts)trees hold a special place for me and I feel like it is my job to be caretaker (never felt like I 'owned' trees even though I sometimes say 'my trees')... yes, nature has her own ways

(22,380 posts)I leave and you get first snow, and now the storm. I'm thinking of coming back to see if I can stabilize the weather.
It must be breaking your heart, unless the ones that fell are clearing the area you wanted to clear out anyway.
Sad! So sad to see.
I believe the 'weather' is due to be crazy everywhere from now on... can't say the ones that fell were ones I wanted to clear.
I am starting to dabble in wood and my first project is a cedar coat rack... none of the cedars fell ...though the spruce stump (photo) gave up a very large tree with lots of large knots that I have been wanting to experiment with (wood bowls)

(22,758 posts)perusing my little estate... approx. 30 trees down (big and little).... lots of wood to play with now; just have to find the time
the spruce (stump w/bark peeling) was one of my favorites... about 80 feet tall w/lots of interesting knots
