(15,812 posts)Ospreys are on every single mile marker post in the Tennessee River, I think. They are so protective of their young and get really upset with us when I get close enough in the boat to get photos. I have been meaning to do a blog post about them. It is nice to have a pretty predictable place to go for bird photos when they are nesting. Awesome birds--I am a big fan of most hawk photos, including this one. Thanks.

The thing is that I need to get closer still without making myself a real problem.

(15,812 posts)It is also funny looking at my photos of osprey because generally the boat is rocking a little and I have to time my snap not with what the birds are doing but try to get the photo on either the top or bottom of the swell of the wave. It makes it even more difficult when a barge goes by. Needless to say about 90% of the photos go in the recycle bin, but I manage to get a few good photos.
I got some decent flying osprey photos last summer but not any great ones this summer. Taking a photo of a flying bird from a rocking boat is something else!
All in all I have a great time so your picture really made me smile, BIG TIME because I can so picture the situation.
