feel about the reptiles? Hope they are not hurting food sources for the natural reptile species. Good to see you & your mom made it to the Keys and that the grandson made it too. Hope everyone is having a great time.

on boats from South America and lost or abandoned pets, and have become a problem. They are herbivores and are a threat to plant life. They don't have any real life threatening enemies, so they can proliferate and grow to 5-6 feet in length, which makes it tricky for people to keep them as pets when they grow that large.
It seems that the state of Florida is on a warpath against them, but I don't know exactly how they go about it.
And I don't think I want to know.

native and I've seen a 4 footer that was a pet. I wasn't sure about being an herbivore but I can see where they would do damage. They can be pretty though and at least aren't eating peoples pets like the pythons are. I remember a news story on Miami a few years ago when they got a cold snap and the iguanas were falling from trees. Here is a news report.
