This spot looks gorgeous. And warm. (It was -7 here this morning.)

46 high today, then 50, 52, 56, and 60, allegedly, Thursday. Showers and 52 Friday, so as I have business closer to town then, I'll probably return to closer-in DC suburb later in the week.

I'm glad too, Blue, and COULDN'T have done it without you!!!

Beautifully situated.

But I have to ask why you call it a "cottage". It is bigger than my house, and I keep saying I want to downsize to a cottage. I guess that I don't understand the term.

Good question! I call it 'cottage' because landlord advertised it, on craigslist, this way:

'Small country style 2-story cottage located on Patuxent River in Calvert County, 5 miles from Solomons Island, 23 miles from St Mary's College, and 60 miles from DC. One large master bedroom, 2nd smaller bedroom/study, two living rooms, front and back enclosed porches, patio, private dock and beach,, large kitchen, washer/dryer, central air & heat as well as wood stove. DirectTV dish installed, some furniture available.''

Its much more than I expected to find when looking for a place closer to my daughter, and the rent is quite reasonable considering all the positives. Its quite old, maybe around 100 years, so nothing fancy inside.

I love old houses. And all the extras and rooms. And the private dock and beach! But I would not think of it as a cottage. I will still wish for my little cottage, and I know that is too big for me. I think of those stupid Kinkade cottages beside a creek when I dream.

It is divine, and finally after having left our beautiful house, which HAD been a home until mid-2006, I'm happy to have a home again.

Daughter, in NJ, about to give birth, and looking forward to bringing baby boy to play; her sister lives nearby so I'll get to parent (including cook) again.

Fortuitously I have the opportunity to embark on a REAL new chapter, JUST what I need! Have some furnishings from our home, including kitchen, so new AND old. AND the photos taken from helicopter, framed, will hang in one of the living rooms!
