I'm going to miss Fujifilm Neopan 1600, still have a couple more expired rolls of this unfortunately discontinued film.

I've always liked shooting with film but for some reason this shoot sparked a need to explore some other film stock.

(1,977 posts)I used to like using all the odd films: b/w and color infrared, really fast grainy b/w film, microscopic slide film and ILFORD made a great b/w film that was processed with color chemistry.

(4,483 posts)ILford Xp2 Super is one of the next rolls of film I plan to use, it's a little more money than most film but you do have the convenience of C-41 processing.

(4,742 posts)The grain, or lack thereof, really grates on me...it's also why I do not do digital B&W; even with quite sophisticated software (FilmConvert, free trial, $99 if you like it) it's not "right". It's like trying to make a room look messy vs. letting it naturally get that way.
Fortunately the love of my life is Delta, 100 and 3200, and they're both still cheap and readily available. And of course, half the fun of B&W is developing it yourself...not to mention the serious level of control you get that way.
Then again I also have the (not so) occasional fling with Velvia, I have yet to coax that out of Photoshop either. I guess I'm getting crotchety in my old age.

(4,483 posts)I feel a real film run coming on for the next couple of months. It was almost like having a zen moment and that needs to continue.

(60,074 posts)I don't know if I will ever develop film again. It's easy, but digital is too easy.
I satisfy my retro urges with manual lenses.
