Need good thoughts and healing vibes, prayers, whatever you do.

Sofia and Mika have both been quite sick and each has had a seizure requiring a visit to the ER - Sofia on Thursday and Mika today. All blood work, etc., looks ok and the docs say it's probably dehydration-induced, but still really scary. I feel helpless being so far away. Just keep the little munchkins in your thoughts, please.

I hate with a passion seeing the little ones sick, esp. with seizures.

My best vibes for them both, and their parents, and you, being so far away.

The first time scared the bejebus out of us. She eventually grew out of the condition.

I know what you are going through and I hope everything works out.

because she briefly stopped breathing. Hopefully, they're all going to be fine now. It seems like a really bad bug.

She stopped breathing right in my arms. We called 911. The parametric asked if she had a fever which she had. He assured us it was fairly common. My daughter had a few more of them over the years and we learned to give her a NSAID when she starts to get feverish. By around 10 she grew out of it.

I'll pass that on. I'm not sure if the kids had fevers, but they've had a bad stomach virus, with the usual symptoms, that left them dehydrated, even though they've been downing lots of fluids and Pedialyte.

In my daughter's case they are called febrile seizures. They sometimes result in children when a fever rises rapidly.

and their parents (also you) Hopefully getting them rehydrate and their electrolytes back to normal will do the trick. Hope everyone is feeling lots better soon!

Poor little Mika had to be sedated for her CT scan and be catheterized for a urine sample, so she was kind of wiped out this afternoon, but Sofia is much better, and Aiman only had a light dose of whatever this was earlier in the week. Kristina and Riaz were both sick, too, but getting better. It sucks to have sick kids, but even more so when you're sick yourself. I wish I was there to help.

are doing better. The upside is once they start getting better the young ones usually bounce back pretty fast. Mika and hopefully Sofia will eventually forget it ever happened beyond the stories. I can understand you wishing you were there to help but keep in mind you could of ended up with it and as bad as the little ones. Having been through the scary sick kids and scary sick grand parent at the same time I would never wish it on anyone. At least you can be moral support and though none of them seems to be the type to whine you can let them whine to you if they feel the need.

And so hard for parents to watch not being able to DO anything.

Hoping they bounce back quickly!

Hugs all around to the little ones, parents, and you!

Thanks everyone for your thoughts. Sofia is back to her sassy self. Mika is struggling a bit and still has a touch of the stomach bug that knocked her out. She'll see her primary care doctor today who can hopefully give her something to help. I think we'll all be better soon. The girls will forget all about it before we know it, but their father and I are traumatized! Hoping this never happens again.

I was worried.
My son once had an epileptic seizure when he had a severe cold - one of the scariest adventures of my life.
