(20,886 posts)She's on a pole along side the road. I have my camera ready on the monopod before I pull up to park. I can manage to get a couple of shots before she takes off.
I got a shot of one of "my" juveniles the other day, but it was with my point and shoot and not as sharp as I would like. I'll hunt it up and load it.
Found it. If you look to the right of the bird, you can just see the head of a second one. Mommy and Daddy were soaring way above.

(130,974 posts)Here are mine, a couple of weeks ago. I've never caught the little ones, saw them last year as teenagers.
The nest is on top of a boat 'shed,' at the creek, some # yards from my home.

(20,886 posts)Do they come back every year?
They put in a vineyard below the pole where mine hang out. I was afraid they wouldn't be back this year, but I guess the site (overlooking a small lake) is just too good. They moved in when a great blue heron decided the location wasn't to her liking.

(130,974 posts)I'm in my 2d year now, and they've been here both.
They're 'protected' here in MD, counted, etc. Not sure if these are counted, as their nest is away from public view, but they sure do fly around the river a lot!
