A couple quick shots from last night's aurora show

We stopped at this overlook first, and got the city lights and the nature lights.

A little too bright there, though, with the airport right behind me, so we moved on down another half mile to Pt. Woronzof, where the real show was happening. To really appreciate the size of this thing, if you look right under the aurora on the horizon, you'll see Mt. Susitna that I've posted lots of pictures of. I was using the 17-40 lens at 17, so you can see the aurora totally dwarfed the mountain.

I have more, just working my way through.

I like the silhouette of the tree and the city lights. You can always control the light in post.

had a lot of light pollution from behind. I tried shooting off to the left a little bit, but the tops of the trees were bright. I had a few issues at the other location, too, because there's a bright green spotlight there - it's very near the airport - so foreground birches had green bark. I think next time we're presented with this opportunity we'll walk on down to the beach and shoot from there.
