Related: About this forumCOMMENT thread for the April 2016 Photo Contest.
The Theme is WATER. Water should be the main subject and so important to the whole that without it there is no reason to show the photo. Minimal processing is allowed but lets not go over board. This contest I would like to see as much of the final photo be done in camera as possible.
Comment away. I cannot wait to see what people have to show!

(149,638 posts)I must stay, I had forgotten this photo...
I took it awhile ago, and put it away.
It really spoke to me today........so here you are!
CC
(8,039 posts)and a perfect match for the theme.
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,638 posts)I'd hoped that it would be at least a good match!

(31,392 posts)Taken from above the sea--no glass in between the camera and water--when we were on Bonaire last month.

(149,638 posts)I declare you the winner!

(31,392 posts)There are 28 more slots!
I do admit, though, to having been astonished when I put the photos I took through the water up on my laptop. The water was so clear--but moving--and I couldn't believe
I caught the Parrotfish and French grunt in the same shot. I also love the refraction looking at the rocks. It was total serendipity.

(31,464 posts)All of my submissions include the embed code or Flickr code...WTF?
Please...what is the best way to submit a photo? I have can do Flickr, Dropbox, FB, whatever...they all show up with code displayed in the post. Maybe I'm just a moran. This is my first post. How do you veterans do it?
mnhtnbb
(31,392 posts)Upload to photobucket. Copy and paste the IMG code.
Atman
(31,464 posts)...it's just that it shows all the code wrapped around it. No one elses pics seem to have this. Maybe it's just my preview mode?

(18,219 posts)I haven't had a problem lately, but had your same problem. Someone (I think alfredo) told me how to do it.
Click on your photo. There will be an arrow to use for sharing. Click to share by "embed" and choose the size you want. Copy the whateveryoucallit link. Paste that into your post here. Now the fun part that gets rid of the link showing around your photo.
<I get this much crap........a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/lalala/123456/in/dateposted-public/" title="Turtle love enhanced copy"><img src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/numbers/more numbers_67401ba5c8_b.jpg" width="730" height="768" alt="Turtle love enhanced copy"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Delete everything except what I have put in bold (and that includes the blue).

(8,039 posts)will be dealing with a pipe/connector leak the took out the whole family room ceiling and at least 2 walls. So know I am checking in between calls to insurance and hopefully (soon) repairs.
Cell phone pics.
TV is soaked as is the cable box and dvd player. It also got my laptop and a friends printer because she left both there after doing her taxes. Rescued the pictures and personal stuff though most of it is wet. Have it setting in another room to hopefully dry ok. The rest is for the insurance to deal with. See if I pick water for a theme ever again.
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,638 posts)That is truly awful.
I hope it looks worse than it is.
Mira
(22,380 posts)So sorry you have to deal with this. At a time like this the only way I get through it is putting one foot in front of the other and count the blessings of what "could have been worse" - again, so very sorry!
CC
(8,039 posts)as getting to redo the family room. lol I also decided I might as well laugh.

(22,380 posts)For strange reasons I was presented with a 2500 sq foot house to fix last fall and it was torn up worse than this. It took me three months of many many hours each day.
Now it's sparkling! It all passes.

(20,886 posts)I deal with leaks and water damage all the time with my clients. It's incredibly frustrating trying to track down a leak before it gets to disaster stage, which obviously yours did. Nasty, insidious stuff, water.
CC
(8,039 posts)never saw ones until it all came down. Oh well, life happens. Connectors failed on 3 of 4 lines from the sinks. Plumber is bewildered as to why. Took one home to tear apart. lol He also did not have a 4th to replace the one remaining connector so advised us to turn off the water until he gets it fixed.

(86,647 posts)Reminds me of 2010 when a tornado (rare around here) ripped through town and took 20ft of roof off my friend's house and totaled the one next door.
Hope it's all covered and repaired soon!

(31,392 posts)What a mess. Good luck with insurance company.
Did you take all photos out of frames or albums? Separate each one individually on a flat surface to dry? Our insurance agent showed
us how to do that in order to salvage water logged photo albums that survived our fire. The photos, themselves, had to be scrapped,
after they dried out, but at least they could first be scanned to print new images.
CC
(8,039 posts)were barely wet. Maybe the glass or a bit of the frame but not the actual pictures. I did do just what you said to do with 1 that was wetter. Insurance adjuster gave me a piece of paper, told me to list all the personal belongings, how old they were and replacement value. Then told me to get estimates for repairs. I wonder what my agent said to them, I used to watch her grandkids. Having run a daycare has helped with so many things over the years.

(3,414 posts)taken from the high bridge that my train was crossing. It's the only water for miles around.
womanofthehills
(8,718 posts)but this sweet little lake in the small Hispanic town of Manzano is about a half hour away. It's stocked so there are always a few people fishing. It's spring fed and dotted with small adobe houses here and there.
I need to start taking pics of the arroyos when they are running out here. When the main one is running the road in or out of my place is not passable. In the summer, it's not unusual to have to wait hours to cross the road to get home. I always have a pillow, blanket, water and books in my car.
Blue_In_AK
(46,436 posts)Probably a good half of my photos involve water in some way. With all this shoreline and millions of lakes and rivers, water is hard to avoid here. Plus all the snow in winter (or all the snow we used to have) being water in its solid state.
mnhtnbb
(31,392 posts)It made me think of a photo I took in Peru--through our shower window--of the jungle right outside.
It wasn't an outdoor shower, but sure felt like one looking out the window.
Great idea!

(8,039 posts)if I counted right. Come on and get those entries in! Have some wonderful ones in there now but some of us are greedy and like to see more! I'll leave it open another day or two but will have to start the voting by the weekend.

(22,974 posts)I think I got my pic in time, but I assumed the deadline was the last day of April, LOL.
I looked for a deadline and couldn't find it but it's probably a brain cramp by me. Would like to know for future contests. Thanks!
CC
(8,039 posts)deadline date. I really thought with an easy theme we would have 30 entries in no time. I was wrong. Plus I kind of forgot to go back and give one once my ceiling had collapsed on my family room soaking everything in water, wet drywall and insulation. (So glad I have insurance, this will be when we find out if it is good ins.) Anyhow you photo is in the contest and in plenty of time. Usually the host give one and it is up to the host each month. Most try to have the contest finished before the last day of the month so the new host can decide & give people time to shoot for that theme before taking entries.
Getting ready to start on the polls.
