Osprey update: Lunch is served version

Mom coming in with lunch, or what's left of it, while Pop keeps the eggs warm.

Touchdown!

Well, apparently Mom wasn't sharing, so Pop takes off to get his own lunch.

I was was really concerned about these guys after the nasty hail storm on Wednesday, but they seem to be fine. Didn't see the eggs, but if they were sitting, as they seem to be, they're probably okay.

Get some comfortable shoes, a tripod and stock up on patience. Then wait.

Even better if you have a remote for your camera. Set up, focus on the nest and perch in a comfortable chair with the remote… and maybe a book.

That's really quite a nice shot, but you really do have to wait for any kind of interesting action.

Been away for a week, and there was a variety of points of view before I left; now, this is the only one, and won't last long, I fear. The parents come and go, and I have gotten some different views. Here's one:

We have some here in Everett Washington but my camera isn't strong enough to get such great detail. How far away were you when you took these?

Between 100' and 200'. Shot with a 400mm lens on a monopod.

This is such a great nest: not too far away; you can look down on it; and it's relatively safe on the bridge, not too much traffic.
