I was going after the look in the last photo, accidentally clicked on a different filter, and said, "Oh, that's cool."

but the first one is my favorite. I love the way that everything just fades away with all the lines. Fog is really fun.

Post war Germany. Dreary weather. Old vineyards.
I like - but now I have to look elsewhere, I don't do maudlin.

but so was every damn thing, emotionally, that got triggered. I reacted to that trigger.
The photos are wonderful, especially the one with the trees staggered in layers of dimensions. I have a painting I did years ago with a sun radiating a bit through such trees and fog, gave it to an old boyfriend, and I wish I had not.

I've been trying to get more emotion into photos, making them more art than photo. I fully understand the kind of reaction moody photos such as these can bring forth, and I'm sorry they pushed some unpleasant buttons for you.

I use On1 software, and they have some wonderful filters and presets.

I knew I wanted the bleached out, grainy, sepia tone look so I converted to a brown toned image, lightened it more, added film grain and a white vignette. I think I did a little blur, too.

The second image, which is the opposite from what I was going for, was obtained by a quirky finger that selected the wrong filter. The options on these filters are so many and so varied, I could probably come up with 300 or more variations of this image. It's daunting at times to play with them. I have found, in order to not get lost in the filters, I must have a pretty firm idea of the end result that I want before I start.
