Anyone interested in a few - oh well, maybe 6 or 7 - shots from Cape Kennedy?

I had not really looked at them yet, and when I did I found some of them to maybe be of interest to folks who have not been there.
I will start with the obligatory "Mom" shot. We had a great time, though could not learn too much, there just wasn't that much study time left that day.

This one is a crop of the huge main building. I considered it for a second or so as an entry for sky. After all there is some sky, and that is what NASA explores. I also had to crop it so tight, because of the crap on my sensor.

Here we have an astronaut suit and gear

And next to it was the prototype, or maybe the real thing, of the lunar vehicle

The Original Flight Command Center, above it now plays a phenomenal 3D movie about Rocket launching - and Space in general

like so:

And shots of Rockets on display

I lived in Houston for years, and never managed to visit the NASA space center there.

For those who wonder:
http://coralcastle.com/ short and a good explanation of what happened here and who did it.

This is the entrance to the tiny chamber the man lived in

Inside of it, this is where the man relaxed. To the right you can see a bit of the spartan hanging bed he slept on.

The layout, at least most of it - in overview

"I was there" photo of Mom. This was last year.
Behind her is the table I'll show you next

The table is huge and in the shape of the state of Florida. Each chair not only rocks, but swivels. Go figure how a 100 pound man did all that by himself.
The carved out finger bowl on the table is located in the area of Lake Okeechobee in Florida.

Just a couple to give you the feel on the ground

and a close up of the gorgeous coral

Love them, I went in pre-digital days. THAT PLACE IS AMAZING.

I absolutely love it.

Did you check out the quarry next to it? How in the world did he even quarry the rock? There was no way to leverage that stuff out of there. Way more amazing that some NASA space thing.

Bet your mom liked it too. Those chairs are comfortable.

I grew up during NASA's heyday, from Mercury all the way through Apollo, and pictures like these always make me a little emotional. I definitely have to get down to the center one day.
