Related: About this forumFinally! Time to upload some images from my new 12-50 Zuiko.
Life has been a bit complicated for the last month or so. I'd tell ya' 'bout it but you'd get tired of reading and I'd be tired of typing. Anyway, the woman I love more than life itself won a weekend at Messina Hoff winery and B&B in Bryan, TX. A great opportunity to try the new lens. Here is NEW TOYS parts one and two http://www.democraticunderground.com/103653792 and http://www.democraticunderground.com/103653811 .
This is the entrance to our B&B.
Here's the 'lobby' of the 8 room B&B. They serve breakfast here every morning and every meal has wine. Whoda' thought . . . Oh, the center table is from the 1700s.
And our room.
The grapes from the on premises vineyard.
The vats that ferment the white wines.
And the barrels that age the red wines. 1/8th at 3.5 without any bracing. Gotta' love that 5 axis IS.
I can't find any flies on the image quality but admit that the lens functionality takes some getting used to. The zoom ring 'clicks' into and out of the motorized zoom mode which is only a minor issue as the rotation to zoom is the same for both auto and manual mode. It just takes some getting used to. I'm liking the lens a lot and enjoy the extra range (24-100 equivalent). Contrast is good and can't argue with resolution. If there's any fall off in the corners it doesn't show up in real world images. No chromatic aberration that I can see at any focal length. Haven't tried the macro mode yet but like I said life has been, uh, interesting lately.
Oh, I bought it on Ebay for $177 new in "bulk pack" which means wrapped in bubble wrap, no box, no documentation and it comes from Korea.

(36,281 posts)I especially like the natural light bedroom photo. I recently had the opportunity to photograph some friends' new home-- it is really eccentric, custom built by someone who had a great eye for design-- but I chickened out because I don't know how to photograph interiors yet. I'll have other chances, and their stuff will be out of the boxes then, too. The grapes are great too, and so are the winery shots!
