I cannot recall ever getting a shot of a winter sunrise AND moonset at the same time. It happened this morning, even though I had to practically hang off our deck (which is about 20 feet in the air) to get the color and the moon (waning crescent) in the same shot.
We also had very pretty color much farther north in the sunrise today than we've had in the last couple of months. Spring is coming!
And the best color, I thought

(31,402 posts)after the election, I was in such shock and despair.
But, there is beauty out there.
In contrast, any photo I would have taken of the same scene would have been the third photo in this sort of series: What I saw, What a good photographer shot, What I shot.

(31,402 posts)that it's often tough to choose just how to frame each shot.
All the sunrise shots I take are hand held. There isn't time to set up a tripod or move it to focus on where the best color is coming.

According to 'my' weather dot com, moon rises today (Tuesday, actually tomorrow!) @ 3:05 a.m., and sets @ 1:18 p.m! SUN sets @ 5:50 pm, and rose @ 6:48 a.m.
