It was a dark and stormy night...

Today was the kind of day that makes living here all worthwhile. Crystal blue sky, 64 degrees, light breeze -- just absolutely stunning. But a strong storm system developed by evening promising us a good soaking tonight. We were out when the front first appeared and I didn't have my camera, but we raced home to get it and I took these shots from our favorite close vantage points. I missed the truly spectacular and very unusual (for us, anyway) clouds at the front of the storm, but these will give you some idea. It was 9:45 p.m. when I took these, still an hour and a half, at least, from sunset, but it was really dark. Storms like this are kind of rare here.

You can see the sun shining on Anchorage's two tallest buildings toward the bottom, about 2/3 of the way over. This is at 17 mm, so really wide.

Those are great clouds! I love how stormy the sky is. And the two tallest buildings look like miniatures...

I really like the way the reeds are bending in the last pic.

Beautiful work!

I truly feel like I'm there on the bank, watching the storm brew.

Love, love the third one. Even water looks stormy.

A door slammed. The maid screamed. Suddenly, a pirate ship appeared on the horizon!

You might be one of those people who always need a camera in tow because you never know...
