I generally prefer the color version, which is the case here.

But the B&W shows the textures and details so beautifully!

I used to shoot b&w film exclusively (Agfa APX), and I loved using a red filter to add contrast.

You could also do this in post processing. Add a red filter to the image before desaturating.

It has a filter option (clear, red, yellow, blue, green, orange). I'm sure I experimented with each when I did this, but can't remember which I decided on. I'll have to go back and look at the file.

Thanks for the kind words. I used a Sigma 50-100mm, and I'm having a devil of a time with AF issues. Many times it either back focuses or front focuses. I wish I could get some consistency so I could adjust in the camera's AF setting.

Otherwise, when it's sharp it's very nice.

Pretty sure I had it set at Center Weighted for this image. Come to think of it, I think I have had better consistency on Spot Meter mode.
