Total eclipse pics from near Corvallis Oregon

Last edited Mon Aug 21, 2017, 06:41 PM - Edit history (1)

We drove about 30 miles north to get in the totality path. Found a field with about 100 other watchers and enjoyed the show. One of the few times in my life I was truly in awe...

The pole lights came on about 10 minutes before total eclipse. Then when it broke it looked like when the sunrise breaks over a mountain

But what we really noticed was how much cooler it got!

I'd say the light was slightly "subdued," like it was midday January rather than midday August.

A friend in S. Carolina said it got completely dark at his spot with total eclipse; dark enough for his solar yard lights to come on. I would like to see more photos of various places - the people, sky, and landscape at total eclipse to get a better idea of the phenomenon.

Absolutely amazing as it went into totality <snap> And the corona became instantly visible, then 90 seconds later <snap>, it disappeared. With binoculars, you could see Mercury. Never seen that before.

I didn't see it until I looked at them later. I about missed the totality pic because I was too busy gawking around. Such a crazy vibe in the air...

The second shot is my new desktop

We saw the eclipse in Nashville and still blown away. I got some kind of vertigo feeling when it went full which is hard to describe.

The darkness quickly coming on and my eyes adjusting to a blue hue all around. No LSD involved

Amazing

There sure were a lot of people out. We left immediately after totality, trying to miss the Great California Migration flowing out of Oregon but no such luck, even though we took some back roads to avoid the jam around Salem.

Beautiful images! I especially like the people shots, and the Diamond Effect.

We took 99 from eugene up the back way towards corvallis. Once we were in the path we just found a dirt road and lo and behold there was a nice field with people already there. No way we were taking the interstate. We were headed back from Canada at 3am the night before and the cars were still streaming up I-5. Rest stops filled to the gills. Craziness...
