***February Photo Contest coming up! And our theme is...***

I'm finally able to host a contest! I've decided not to do the typical seasonal thing...especially since DUers are from all over the U.S. (and world), and it's not really fair to call for "winter" shots for people in say, So Cal. So here goes...get ready to take some fresh pics, or dig through your archives.

Our February theme is "DRIVE BY."

I'm envisioning anything you see along the roadside, or while out on a drive down a country road, or even on a busy city street (think neon lights and long exposures). Think old barns, or a motion-blurred clam shack shot from your moving car. Roadkill. A beautiful sunset along a coastal road. A farm stand or a local vendor hawking his goods. It's a pretty open concept, but try to keep the ROAD and or DRIVING into it. No requirements on post processing, just looking for creativity.

I'll start up the contest on Feb. 15, with the usual voting/timing parameters (details in my next post). Now get out there and do some drive-by shooting! Er, uh...you know what I mean. - Atman

1. Just a reminder that our Winter Seasonal Contest

is separate from the monthly contests. The winner of the Autumn Seasonal Contest is scheduled to
host the Winter Seasonal Contest, which by rules of the Photography Group, opens on March 1st.

Also, because we decided last year not to try to run two contests in the same month, the winner of the February contest
will be hosting in April (because March is devoted to the Winter Seasonal Contest).

Just FYI for all the photographers.

2. I can start it earlier than the 15th if you think it would be better.

It's probably not a great idea to have the two bumping into each other. Any thoughts, photographers? Can you be ready sooner?

4. I think the 15th is pretty perfect for the start

3 days for prelims, and 3 days for finals makes it all done before the end of the month.

10. Where was my head?

When I said in another post here that the 15th is a good time to start, I did not take into consideration to say that we have to OPEN SUBMISSIONS before then.

I only now realized that this is not happening, so please, atman, let us enter our photos ASAP. It takes a while to get them together as I am sure you know, so if you do it today and close them by the 20th we can make it to a finish in February.
