I discovered that the City had planted a field of sunflowers at Dorothea Dix Park, which is very near my apartment. So this morning Snowy and I went to see if we could get a few shots. We went early and there were already a lot of people there.
Here are a few.

Two bees...
Three bees!
Some were as tall as I am
When the bees are done...
Snowy was ready to go. She would not pose. She would not look at me. It was in the upper 70's when we were there, but no shade! Home by 9:30 am.

Thank you for sharing, mnhtnbb!
And, why is it that when your dog is almost always right in your face, she won't cooperate when you want to take a picture? Mine does that, too!

(I've got to find mine from last year, and get a few more this year)

I was there early enough that it was really evident how the flowers follow the sun. They were all directed east.

(31,384 posts)which might explain why the farm on Long Island plants them.
There were also signs about the bees and how bees that are ill will prefer the honey from sunflowers. Usually I would take a photo of the signs so I could go back and look at the information, but I was trying to keep it moving since I had the dog with me and it felt hotter than i thought it would at 9 (8 am sun time) in the morning.
