Spanish ironwork

The architecture in Barcelona was amazing. I haven't done justice to it in this miniscule representation, but I hope it gives some idea of the craftsmanship and design exhibited throughout the city.

I was especially taken with the ironwork and doors throughout.

My wife and I got to spend some time there last summer. We got there on the last day of a big wine festival and had a blast drinking and talking to people. I’ve been lucky enough to have been there before and my wife fell in live with it too.

The old buildings and courtyards and the wide tree lined avenues make it so fun to wander around exploring.

My wife and I went there in September and October as part of a trip to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. It was post-high season (much smaller crowds) and the weather was excellent (low 80's with low humidity). I had the best Mojito that I think I've ever had there. And the wines were excellent! We had a great time.

And I agree with you about wandering around exploring. We walked and cabbed all over that city.
Definitely planning on a return trip next year.

And it was pretty much everywhere in the Eixample District where we stayed. I had heard that Barcelona was a beautiful city, and I had seen lots of photos, but the reality was even better than expected. And the people were very friendly! My wife speaks fluent Spanish, and I learned a little Catalan before we left, and we got along just fine (and English was spoken pretty regularly).

I'll put up a few more shots after I finish going through them.

I have some more facades that I'll put up in a separate post, plus some doors.

You're within a couple of hours by plane from Barcelona. Have you been?

Just so appreciative of the skill and artistry it took to produce something this gorgeous!

You definitely see more of this kind of craftsmanship in Europe.

After Barcelona we went to Nice, and Rome. I was on complete sensory overload by the time we left Europe.

They have a serious problem with family gangs that use small children to pilfer your rental car while the parents "helpfully" distract you with directions or other small kindnesses. They are very good at it.

They're rarely caught - and if they are, because they're minors, the police has to let them go.
